Oxytetracycline Injection
(1) Administration with diuretics such as furosemide may aggravate renal function damage.
(2) It is a rapid bacteriostatic drug. Contraindicated is the combination with penicillin-like antibiotics since the drug interferes with the bactericidal effect of penicillin on the bacterial breeding period.
(3)Insoluble complex might be formed when the drug is used together with calcium salt, iron salt or medicaments containing metal ions such as calcium, magnesium, aluminum, bismuth, iron and the like (including Chinese herbal medicines). As a result the absorption of medicaments would be reduced.
Tetracycline antibiotics. It is used for infection of some gram-positive and negative bacteria, Rickettsia, mycoplasma and the like.
Intramuscular injection: a single dose of 0.1 to 0.2ml for domestic animals per 1 kg bw.
(1) Local stimulation. The hydrochloric acid solution of the medicine has strong irritation, and intramuscular injection can cause pain, inflammation and necrosis at the injection site.
(2) Intestinal flora disorder. Tetracyclines produce broad-spectrum inhibitory effects on equine intestinal bacteria, and then secondary infection is caused by drug-resistant Salmonella or unknown pathogenic bacteria (including Clostridium diarrhea, etc .), leading to severe and even fatal diarrhea. This condition is common after large doses of intravenous administration, but low doses of intramuscular injection may also cause such problems.
(3) Affecting tooth and bone development. Tetracycline drugs enter the body and combine with calcium, which is deposited in teeth and bones. The drugs also easily pass through the placenta and enter the milk, so it is contraindicated in pregnant animals, mammals and small animals. And the milk of lactating cows during drug administration is prohibited in marketing .
(4) Liver and kidney damage. The drug has toxic effects on liver and kidney cells. Tetracycline antibiotics might induce dose-dependent renal function changes in many animals.
(5) Antimetabolic effect. Tetracycline drugs can cause azotemia, and can be aggravated by steroid medications. And more, the drug might also cause metabolic acidosis and electrolyte imbalance.

(2) Gastroenteritis may occur in horses sometimes after injection, should be used with caution.
(3) Contraindicated in diseased animals suffering liver and renal functional damages.
